Bison Powder Horn - The Gambler for Sale

Price: $400   (Shipping Included)

A large bison powder horn from an old bull, with a playing card theme. Very sturdy physically, perfect for a large bore plains rifle.

The body is polished smooth. The horn has an usually solid spout and tip, which required removal to hollow it. The spout is tenoned back into the body and the joint is covered with a turned cow horn, secured by small brass tacks. The spout is covered with a brass thimble and cone tacks surround the strap groove. The spout plug is turned from a fiddle peg with a heart cutout.

The body is decorated with brass tacks, creating the four playing card suits.

The soft pine base plug has beautiful weathered graining and is stained dark and fixed with large brass talks. The strap button is turned antler with a raised diamond on the end.

The horn is 18” along the back curve from strap button to spout plug. The base is 4” in diameter.
