Sold $1100
A smokable pipe tomahawk and powderhorn ensemble for the true gentleman.
Powderhorn:
A small and elegant presentation powder horn with carved spiral flutes, a carved and pierced lobe and a turned walnut base plug. The base is carved and textured as well. The plug is secured with steel nails.
The spout plug is turned from the horn's tip. The horn is patinaed to highlight the carved portions. The horn has a slight twist favoring the right side, but can be carried on either side.
The horn is 12" long along the curve, and 2" diameter at the base.
Tomahawk:
The richly decorated pipe tomahawk head is sculpted under the blade with pattern-filing along the spine. The blade is pierced with a waning moon, and the eye is textured with a stippled pattern, and finished with a polished steel tack. The pipe bowl has a sixteen-faceted bowl, and sits on an octagonal neck with filed flanges.
The cap is bison horn and the turned horn cleanout matches the pattern of the turned horn mouthpiece and the spout plug of the powderhorn. The highly-figured curly maple handle is flute-carved to complement the powderhorn, with matching cartouches and stippling. Four cast-in pewter rings and steel pins adorn the shaft as well.
The blade is 6.75" long with a 2.5" edge, and the handle is 19.5" long.
