Forged Clay-Hardened Arc Skinner
|
|
Sold: $450
This is a very sculpted and balanced knife. Two smoothly intersecting arcs create the blade and grip profile, with a slight drop at the tip. The broad and graceful blade is hand-forged from 1095 steel and clay-hardeneded to produce a beatiful and lively hamon. The blade is hand rubbed to 2000 grit and then gently etched to reveal the hamon.
The integral tang narrows gracefully from butt to tip. Scales of bookend-matched stabilized double-dyed curly maple burl are secured with three aluminum-copper-brass mosaic pins and a lanyard sleeve.
The sheath is made of heavy-weight leather, wet-molded and hand-stitched, with a polished black finish. A folded-over belt loop is stitched to the back of the sheath.
The blade is 4" long, 3/16" thick and 2" wide at the heel. Overall, the knife is 8.75" long.
