Mid 19th-Century Tomahawk

Sold: $400

A medium sized steel-headed presentation pipe tomahawk with later-style bowl. The patinaed head has aged iron color and bead-filed details.

The long haft is carved from highly-figured curly maple, drilled for smoking and finished with a bison horn mouthpiece. The upper section is decorated with fine brass wire wraps and brass tacks, with a fluted cap. The cleanout plug is turned bison horn with a brass cap.

The head is 8” long with a 2” edge. The overall length of the hawk is 24".
