A very beautiful smokable presentation French and Indian War (F&I) pipe tomahawk with silver wire and cast pewter inlay.

The elegantly decorated pipe tomahawk blade is forged and filed to shape. The large heavy pipe bowl has a round rim and two wedding bands sitting on a filed hexagonal neck, resting on a rounded chevron.. Bronze rivet heads adorn the sides of the eye. The blade molding is filed in high relief. The bottom of the blade has a deep arc and beard with a heat-treated, sharpened bit. The blade has a satin polish and is patinated.

The cap is carved ebony with a turned maple clean-out plug, which includes a spring-steel wire. The highly-figured curly maple handle is flute-carved on the lower third, and decorated with sterling silver wire above, separated by five cast-in filed pewter bands and a decorative pointed band beneath the blade. The haft terminates with a turned section with a copper stem. The highly-figured curly maple handle is flute-carved on the lower third, and decorated with sterling silver wire above, separated by five cast-in filed pewter bands and a decorative pointed band beneath the blade. The wood is treated with aqua fortis, stained dark and finished with several coats of hand-rubbed oil.

(Note: Sadly, my photograghs do not capture the shimmering, three-dimensional effect of the maple curl).

The blade is 7.5" long with a 3" edge, and the overall length is 21" long.
