This
gunstock war club is carved from a solid curly
maple stock blank. The
faceted stock forms a sharp diamond cross-section,
and every edge and point
creates a trauma surface. The finger-grooved
grip is wrapped in green
leather and stitched with sinew thread. Wood
and bone beads, a feather and a
horsehair scalp lock adorn the ends, and
over 50 brass tacks define the
planes. The leading and trailing impact edges
have received filed patterns
along their full length.
The dag-shaped
pierced steel blade is 7" long
by 2" wide. The club is 36"
long, 4" wide at the "butt", and 2" thick at
its widest point.
