A
fancy presentation-grade pipe tomahawk with
rope-patterned bowl and
cast-steel head with hardened edge. The head has a dark patina finish.
The
mouthpiece and removable end plug/cleanout
pick are turned from deer antler and the haft
is carved from beautifully figured curly maple, with finger grooves below the
head. Two bands of pewter frame two copper gilt flowers, and a copper cap is
fitted above the axe head.
A
single pheasant feather is secured to the haft
with sinew and a wooden bead.
The
haft is stained dark with a hand-rubbed tung oil finish.
The
tomahawk measures 22" from mouthpiece to plug, and the head is 7" long.
