A large bison powder horn from an old bull. Very sturdy physically, perfect for a large bore plains rifle.

The large body is polished smooth. The horn has an usually solid spout and tip, which required removal to hollow it. The spout is tenoned back into the body and covered with a thick wet-fitted rawhide cover with an integral strap ring wrapped in sinew. The spout plug is turned from an old, rodent-chewed section of antler tip, secured with a braided sinew retaining strap.

The body is decorated with brass tacks in band and sun patterns.

The soft pine base plug has beautiful weathered graining that looks like waves on a beach. A forged iron staple is set to secure the strap.

The horn is 14.5” along the back curve from base to spout plug. The base is 3.75” in diameter.
