A sturdy and compact banded powder horn with milk-painted base plug and spout plug. Good for right or left-hand carry.
The mottled cow horn has an intricately hand-carved spout that is naturally black. The transition to the mottled body is fully engrailed. A large applied horn band with crenelated edge completes the body of the horn.
The turned horn spout plug and wood base plug (secured with iron tacks) are painted with Colonial Blue milk-paint, an extremely durable, centuries-old formula of water, lime and casein. The milk paint is hand-polished. Iron eyelets are attached to the spout and base plug for strap attachment.
The horn is 14” long and 3” in diameter.
