Forged Coiled Steel Rattlesnake

Price: $115

Add to Cart

This snake was forged from an 1/2" steel rod. The head was upset (hammered axially until it is thicker) and hammered to rough shape. The body was then tapered, filed and formed hot. The texture of the body was applied with a rough rasp, cut in with right-angled strokes. Features were then carved into the face, and the head was engraved to simulate scales.

The rattler's tail is carved into the steel.

The snake is actually 30" long, but is coiled into a form approximately 6" x 4"
