A rare and peculiar tomahawk variant first documented by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805, and used almost exclusively by tribes along the Missouri River. The blade is forged from carbon steel with file-cut fullers and a round tapered eye. The blade is enhanced with three saw-cut blade piercings consisting of a traditional circle, heart and ‘batwing’ design, and patinaed a dark brown. As were the originals, the blade is left blunt.

The long, slender 1’’ diameter handle is carved from Gonçalo alves and decorated with a groove-and-dot pattern on the upper section. The lower section is wrapped with wet-formed rawhide stitched with sinew, with a deerskin-wrapped feather drop. Two rows of brass tacks circle the leather grip. A small knob finishes the end, which is drilled for a leather wrist strap.

The blade is 7.5’’ long from poll to edge, and the edge is 3’.5’’ long. The haft is 23.5’’ long.
