Crenellated Presentation French and Indian Powderhorn

A slender, carved and banded presentation quality French and Indian (F&I) powderhorn. The body has a full curve and twist and is suited for carry on the left side. A large, pierced white horn band and a smaller simple band are heat-applied and secured with tiny wood pegs. The spout is lathe-turned from elk antler and secured with wood pegs as well. The spout plug was turned from the tip cutoff.
An integral front strap keeper is carved into the spout. The horn has been gently patinaed.
The low domed base plug is turned maple with ring patterns and a ring-pull style strap hanger. The wood was stained, oiled and secured with small wood pegs
An inkle-loom .woven red, black and white strap is attached withe deerskin thongs.
The horn is 17" long and 3" in diameter at the base.
