Magua's Bear-Head Knife

Sold: $650

This knife was created as a companion for the Magua Tomahawk, and is based on movie stills and photos of the prop weapon carried by the character Magua in the 1992 movie 'Last of the Mohicans'.

The hand-carved hickory grip has the open-mouthed bear effigy and is pinned to a 9.5” long by 1.25" wide hand-forged half-tang carbon steel blade. The handle has copper pins in a crude double cross pattern, and the blade has a dark, worn patina.

The sheath is molded rawhide leather, hand stitched and formed to the knife, with a dyed and stitched deerskin throat. Tin cones with red horsehair tufts dangle from a bone bead string at the throat and along the edge of the sheath.

Overall length of the knife is 15”.
