Presentation Gunstock Warclub with Bleeding Heart Cutout

Sold: $375

This smaller proportioned weapon, is a presentation war club carved from beautifully figured Grade 6 curly maple. The dense curl runs the full length of the weapon. The wood is hand-carved, with a diamond sectioned stock and deer foot grip. The upper section has an incised border, and is decorated with cone-headed brass tacks. The leading strike edge is carved with a saw-toothed pattern.

The wood was treated with Aqua Fortis, heated, stained and then finished with several coats of hand-rubbed tung oil to bring out the beauty of the curl. A horsehair “scalplock” drop, wrapped in buckskin, decorates the upper sling hole.

A stout Christmas tree steel blade, pierced with the popular “bleeding heart”, projects from the striking edge. The handmade blade is draw-filed and patinaed for age.

The blade is 3.25" long by 2" wide, and ¼’’ thick. The club is 28" long, 5.25" wide by 1.25” thick at the butt.
