Price: $450 (Shipping Included)
A simple and brutally effective warclub made and carried by Apache warriors.
A flattened round river stone is wrapped in wet rawhide, then stitched wet with waxed cord and dried. The rawhide shrinks tight to the stone as it dries and hardens. Integral straps extend around a hardwood handle, and are stitched wet around the wood tip This allows the stone head to whip a bit, increasing the force of the blow.
The hardwood handle is wrapped in wet rawhide and stitched in a similar manner, further securing the stone head. The base is wrapped around a horsehair lock. A hand-loomed glass-beaded drop is attached below the head with a tin cone and a bead wrap, and wooden beads decorate the horse hair lock. Painted decorations are applied on the stone head and the handle, and the entire club was was patinated to appear old and used.
A twisted wrist strap of elk leather completes the club.
The handle is approximately 19" long. The stone is approximately 3.5" in diameter. Total length (excluding horse hair) is 24".
