* Based on a Gurkha Kukri, a beautiful art knife with the flowing lines of a Bird of Paradise. The knife is forged to shape from truck leaf spring, much like Kukris today, and mounted on a forged steel perch set into a rootball stand.

The blade is polished to a satin finish and blued. The handle scales are lacewood with black fiber spacers. The feathers are the natural grain of that wood. The bird’s head is of fossil ivory. Brass and steel mosaic pins secure the body, and the eye is brass, copper and aluminum. Several layers of hand-rubbed tung oil finish the piece.

The knife is 15.5” long overall and the blade is 9’’ long and 2” wide. It stands 14” tall on its perch.

* Accepted for display at the 2013 Metal, Stone & Wood Exhibit at Tohono Chul Park (Exhibit House Main Gallery)

* Accepted for display at the 2012 Arizona Designer Craftsman (ADC) Craftsmanship juried show

* Best of Show and Best of Metal at the 2012 Arizona Design Craftsmen in the Pima Community College Annual juried Student Art Exhibition
