A very large bison powder horn from an old bull, with a carved Gothic feel. Very sturdy physically, perfect for a large bore plains rifle.

The body is polished smooth with a carved "cage" behind a large lathe-turned applied cow horn ring. The spout is carved into a hexagonal form with carved rings and engrailing. The ring and cage bands are set with small brass tacks, secured by small brass tacks. The spout plug is turned maple with castle tower detail and a small brass ring.

The pine base plug is carved in a similar four-faceted fashion as the spout plug, with a beautiful weathered graining, stained dark and fixed with large brass tacks. A large forged brass strap ring is set into the base.

The horn is 16” along the back curve from strap button to spout plug. The base is 4” in diameter.
