Bison Powder Horn with Mesquite Base

Sold: $175

A large-capacity bison powder horn with a turned clear mesquite base and carved spout. The turned domed base has rings and incised circles and a large brass eye for strap attachment. The base is secured with six large brass tacks. The slender spout is elegantly hand-carved with a ball end,  rings, a strap groove and engrailment. The spout plug is an ebony fiddle peg.

The body of the powder horn is polished smooth and can be carried on either side.

The powderhorn (including spout and strap eye) is 12’’ long along the back curve, and the base is 3’’ in diameter.
