Canister Damascus Quillon Dagger for Sale

Price: $800

This is another knife for the Creative Anachronists and the Renaissance reenactors.

This is a large and beautiful quillon dagger with a hand-forged canister Damascus double-edged blade. The canister Damascus was created by filling a steel tube canister with sheets of 15N20 steel, ball bearings and powdered steel. The canister was then placed in a forge until white hot, and forge-welded in a hydraulic press. The Damascus core was then cut from the steel case and hammer-forged to shape.

The blade is blued and terminates in a needle tip. The guard is hand-filed and pierced from solid copper and heat colored. The handle is turned from snakewood burl, polished, inlaid with stingray skin and finished with several coats of lacquer. A copper scalloped ferule and pommel cap are heat-patinated as well.

The sheath is carved from poplar and covered with ostrich leather and stingray. The throat and chape are of copper construction. A heavy leather belt hanger is attached with a large copper rivet.

The Damascus blade is 9.75” long, 1.5" wide, and the knife is 16” overall.
