Colt Pistol with Bulldog Scrimshaw

Back in late 1989, the Prop Master from the TV show The Young Riders (1989-1992), which was being filmed at the Old Tucson Mescal set, showed up at the architectural office where I was employed, and wanted to know if I could scrimshaw a bulldog onto the ivory grip of a reproduction 1861 Colt Navy percussion revolver (at the time, I had some scrimshaw for sale at a local knife store, guess that's where he got my name). It was to be used in an episode appropriately named “Bulldog”, about a inept young greenhorn who wants to join the Pony Express. Eventually accepted because of his tenaciousness, he is nicknamed “Bulldog” and presented this weapon.
I agreed that I could do it, and asked when they needed it. He said, “tomorrow”. So, another late night. He picked it up the next day.
I just saw that the show is now on Amazon Prime, and looked up the episode (The Young Riders, Season 1, Ep. 19, “Bulldog”, time marker 31:14).
My 5 seconds of Hollywood fame!
