A solid eucalyptus branch is the medium of this beautiful lathe-turned sculpture. The chalice was turned directly from the raw wood branch; there is no glue or joinery used. The chalice bowl is turned as thin as glass, with beautiful graining, highlighted with natural oil and a lacquer finish. The stem is stained a slightly darker color, with molding at the epicure and base.

The integral base has its natural bark and projecting branch left intact, with a natural oil/lacquer finish. The transition from the base to the stem is textured by hand.

The base is aproximately 6" x 8", and the total height is 9". The chalice is 6" high and the bowl has a 4" diameter.

(Photographs by my son, Joseph Gotkin).

Note: If you have ever turned live wood, you can imagine how many times my knuckles were spanked by that projecting branch.
