Faultlines Metal Sculpture Dishes (Commissioned Series)

Commissioned Work

A series of forged dishes of 12 gauge steel. The large dish (12’’ x 12’’) was commissioned for a donation to a silent auction, and has a copper AIDS ribbon in the corner. The bowls were hot-forged into a hollowed stump or dapping block, and hand cut with a plasma cutter. Bases are welded to the bottoms.

Patinas on the smaller bowls (4’’ X 4’’) were created with sand-blasting, a vinegar bath and heat-treated to achieve the leathery finish. The large bowl has a copper patina applied as well. A final finish of automobile Clear-Coat provides a protective “wet” look.

Architecture and award-winning museum-quality custom handmade knives, edged weapons, powder horns, tomahawks, war clubs, jewelry, metal sculpture, cribbage boards, flint and obsidian knives, Japanese swords, menorahs, and more from Tucson, Arizona artist and architect Larry Gotkin.
