Forged Plains Style Pipe Tomahawk

Sold: $425

A simple presentation-grade Plains Style pipe tomahawk, hand-forged from a carbon steel ball-pein hammer. The head is forged to rough shape and then files are used to 'carve' the head into its final form. The long rounded pipe bowl has a filed groove and sits on a square neck and long chevron. The eye has a large single fuller at the base of the blade. The lower edge of the blade is notched. The edge has been heat-treated and tempered.

The haft is premium curly maple, prepared with aqua fortis, lightly stained and polished with a hand-rubbed oil finish. The bottom of the grip has a swelled drop. The mouthpiece and clean-out plug are formed from natural deer antler. Five rows of brass tacks adorn the handle, and the drop is made of beads and a braided scalplock (horsehair).

The presentation tomahawk measures 21", and the head is 7" long, with a 2-1/2" edge.
