Forged Presentation Pipe Tomahawk - Obelisk

Sold: $775

A large presentation pipe tomahawk, hand-forged from high-carbon tool steel. This presentation pipe tomahawk is completely hand forged and filed to shape. The acorn pipe bowl sits on a flared square pedestal and has a filed rope rim and wedding band. The teardrop eye has a deep half-round fuller, with hand-filed molding. The long polished blade has scalloped filework along the bottom and foliage filework along the spine and is finished with an aged blue patina.

The haft is curly maple, treated with aqua fortis and stained dark, with six narrow pewter bands and a larger one beneath the blade. Finger grooves are applied to the lower haft, and wrapped with glove-soft dark deerskin. The lower end of the handle is lathe-turned, and the mouthpiece is old ivory. The obelisk cleanout plug is carved from old ivory as well, and fitted through a pinned nickel-silver cap..

The blade is 8.5” long overall and 2.65” wide across the edge. The hawk is 24” long from mouthpiece to plug and the maple haft is 21.75’’ long.
