Forged Railroad Spike Knife - Two Piece

SOLD: $215

A unique take on the railroad spike knife. A hand-forged dropped point blade of O1 steel was slotted into the point of an ancient railroad spike, hot-forged together and then riveted with copper. Only the edge is polished. The spike is left intact, the pitted texture still visible to provide a secure grip. The blade and grip are patinaed a dark blue. A bit different from your basic heat and twist treatment, with a better steel blade than would be possible from a typical forged spike.

The knife rests on a stand of natural ironwood, with copper posts.

The knife is 10” overall with a 4” blade.
