Presentation Forged Pipe Tomahawk - Octagon Bowl

Sold: $450

A clean and elegantly simple presentation-grade pipe tomahawk, hand-forged from a carbon steel ball-pein hammer. The head is forged to rough shape and then files are used to 'carve' the head into its final form. The tapered octogon pipe bowl has a deeply filed groove and the octagon base flows into an arced base. The eye has a large single fuller at the base of the blade. The lower edge of the blade has a deeply curved beard and the top is pattern-filed. The edge has been heat-treated and tempered.

The haft is premium curly maple, prepared with aqua fortis and lightly stained. The bottom of the grip is swelled for a firm grip. The mouthpiece is carved form deer antler.

The clean-out plug is turned from buffulo horn. The clean-out plug has a steel cleaning pick.

The presentation tomahawk measures 23", and the head is 7" long, with a 2-3/8" edge.
