Presentation Poll Tomahawk - Copper Banded

Sold: $750

An elegant and substantial presentation poll tomahawk with a long, figured maple handle handle. The heavy polished steel head is gently patinaed, with a hardened and tempered edge. The bottom of the blade is carved with two arcs and an elaborate vine filework decorates the spine. The acorn poll, converted from a pipe and filled with lead, is carved with deep spirals, and the poll strap has been textured with a heavy stipple.

The handle has elements of curly and birdseye maple with a finger-grooved and bellied lower grip. The cap of the handle has been carved with a scalloped pattern. Tiny brass tacks secure four saw-cut copper bands, with larger tacks securing the end designs. The copper has been heat-colored. The handle was finished with ten coats of hand-rubbed tung oil.

The presentation tomahawk measures 21.5", and the head is 6.75" long, with a 2.25” edge.
