Presentation Wire-Inlaid Pipe Tomahawk

SOLD: $775

A large pipe tomahawk, hand-forged from a ball-pein hammer. This presentation pipe tomahawk is completely hand forged and shaped from carbon steel. The round pipe bowl has filed wedding bands and a rolled rim, and the chevron is carved and stippled. The teardrop eye is heavy, with hand-filed molding. The blade has a scalloped bit and traditional round and triangle filework along the spine and is finished with an aged patina.

The haft is curly maple, treated with aqua fortis and stained dark, with three pewter bands and inlaid silver wire. Finger grooves are applied to the lower haft. The mouthpiece is turned from an old ivory bead, and the cleanout plug is assembled from stacked ivory beads.

The blade is 7” long overall and 2.25” wide across the edge. The hawk is 24” long from mouthpiece to plug, and the maple haft is 22’’ long.
