Forged Sanmai Damascus Bowie Knife for Sale

Sold: $600

This is just a really pretty knife. The hidden-tang blade is a hand-forged variation of Sanmai. An original billet of seventeen layers of 15N20 and 1095 was wrapped around a center section of 1095, forged welded together, then the process was repeated several times to create 103 layers. The blade was then forged, ground, heat treated, polished and etched. The spine is pattern-filed with a sharpened "false" edge.

The traditional guard is solid copper with decorative filework, and heat-colored. The graceful curved grip is carved from green-dyed stabilized birch burl, and resembles malachite. The pommel is walnut with a fiber spacer.

The sheath is hand-stitched vegetable-tanned leather, two-toned with decorative stitching and tooling.

The blade is 8.5" long, 3/16" thick, and 1.75" wide. Overall length of the knife is 14".
