The Belduque was a large pointed blade that evolved in Mexico, and is believed to be a precursor to the early Bowie knives.

This graceful blade is hand-forged from spring steel and hand-filed to shape, with a thick spine and a sharp needle point and a 5.5” false edge. The spine is filed with a leafy vine pattern. The heel of the blade has the traditional cut-out and integral finger guard. The integral round steel bolster is forged and hand-filed to shape. The blade is deeply blued.

The grip is turned from Eucalyptus burl, and finished with several coats of hand-rubbed tung oil. The mastodon ivory pommel is turned and set into the butt.

The heavy vegetable-tanned leather sheath is wet-molded and hand-stitched with natural sinew. The folded-over belt loop is decorated with stitching and lacing. The top of the sheath is covered in lizard skin, and a nickel-studded leather shield decorates the front of the sheath.

The knife is 17.25” long overall. The blade is 10.75” long, 3/16” thick and 1.25” wide.
