A very beautiful Ceremonial Fighting War-Hammer/Axe of the Zaghnal family from India, with a Bichawa (Scorpion’s Stinger) armor-piercing blade, pike blade and helmet breaker.

The weapon is made entirely of hot-forged steel, hand-filed, polished and blued. The double-edged Bichawa axe blade flows sinuously from the octagonal eye to the heavy recurved tip. A bell-shaped crescent blade curves gently from the back. A sharpened double-edged pike extends from the eye, seated to a solid faceted ball. The blades are enhanced with inlaid mosaic circles of copper, brass, aluminum and steel. Filed designs accentuate the tops and base of the axe blades.

The two-handed forged steel haft is formed from heavy tube, tapered top and bottom, with disk and ball contours. A heavy steel faceted-ball pommel finishes the end. The grip is wrapped with dark brown deer skin and tan elk skin, hand-stretched and sewn onto the haft.

The weapon is 43” overall. The pike blade extends 7” beyond the axe blade. The Bichawa blade is 10” long and 1.75’’ wide, and the crescent blade is 3” long, with a 2’’ edge. Total length of the blade is 14”. The Zaghnal weighs a hefty 5 pounds.

Companion piece for Sainti-Indo-Persian Parrying Weapon.
